Bakersfield 8pm PT
First night in cali but not home yet. In bakersfield for the evening so we are fresh for our 3 hour drive home and full day of unpacking!
Have some good pics from the road today but you folks will have to wait since the room as no internet. For some reason they think the pet wing doesn't need it and I am way to tired to go to the business center.
Tmr might not have a chance to post so hold tight for more....

welcome to california 3:30 PT
Yeppie just passed a “welcome to california” sign and are officially on Pacific time! Is very green. Behind us is Arizona and is dark and dreary and ahead is California baby...lush green is starting to poke out and sun is shining :-)
If u haven't had a change to drive the west I recommend it highly there is no greater beauty then the big country. We are certainly looking forward to seeing more of it!!!

Kingston AZ 4pm MT
Lot't of driving today but most of it without cell and/or web connection so no posting. Rode through new mexico and finishing off arizona right now. Had to drive through 2 snow storms crossing some mountain passes which slows us down a bit and hindered the beautiful views. New Mexico is definately on the list of return to states anyway. Everyone is doing fine and excited about being 40 miles from California.

Tucumcari New Mexico 9pm MT
made it to tucumcari New Mexico, all checked in and ready to get some rest. We had a big driving day again today with over 950 miles logged in. Nothing new and exiting to share. all doing well and Townes is loving the double bed in this room, as will i when i actually get some sleep tonight ;-)
We got pulled over by an officer of the law, after going 70 in a nightime 65 mile a hr (70 in the day). gave us a warning and a slow down message. Once we hit New Mexico the speed limit turned to 75 which is crazy

Ola Pai! Ola Mae
Acabe agora mesmo falar com voces. Acqui podem ver a nossa trip! Muitos beijinhos :-)
Clinton, Oklahoma is OK 5pm CMT
Keeping with the clinton theme...just wrapped up a 6hr stint behind the minivan. Dylan forced me to pull over, I have road on my veins and could have gone for another 6 :-)
Around 1pm the rain eased away and although we haven't seen the sun today it has been clear riding.
We are in cherokee country were you can buy cactus plants, knives and sheepskined mockinsons. We have seen no armadillos nothing but jesus billboards. Can see for miles on highway ridgeways at times. The country is starting to look big.

arkansas clinton territory 9:55am CMT
Yes we miss him to..just saw a bumper sticker that read “God I miss Bill Clinton” after cars and cars of W stickers, it had to put a smile on our faces :-)
So many red states to get to that big blue one.

Arkansas 9:40am CMT
It is pouring in arkansas and looks like rain through the day. Yuck.it will slow us down and we can't even see anything. The brown fields look saturated by the roadside and if the weather channel is right we are entering a 3 day stint of rains in biblical propositions. Hey don't worry we won't let that rain on our parade.
on 40west again heading to memphis 6:15am CMT
Morning folks. On the road again...early rise with no issues. Townes slept like a king on the king size bed across 3 pillows while dylan and I squeeze on one side. I got the inside which meant I got jabbed and smelly toes in the face, but a restful sleep non-the-wise.
we were just talking about how steve earle, and the rest of the TNfolks live 15min west outside of nashville. Wonder if he stopped at the BP last night :-)
.
Memphis in less then two hours..

Kingston Springs, outside of Nashville 8pm CMT
alright folks we are on Central Mountatin Time now.....
Just checked in to the Best Western in Kingston Springs (which i found on dogfriendly.com)
Good Weather, light traffic roads made it for a very good driving day. We are now about 15 miles west outside of Nashville. Made a call from the road (how great is technology) to make the reservation noting the two pups and no problem what's so ever, just an extra 10 bucks per pup. The guy at the reception however has not seen the white goon with the very bloodshot eyes and wobbly legs.;-)
We did over 950 miles today which is pretty good for the first day. An early night means an early morning wake-up which lends to beter and quicker driving!!!
Everything is holding up in the truck with no big shifting. Dylan drives that thing like it should be a career. I am liking the minivan, but can't see a future with the Caravan anytime soon. Mark is playing relief which is great and will be even better once these roads tire us out.
We have been tralied by a fleet of white freightliners each pulling two others backwards, which is interesting to look at to say the least. maybe if we see them tomorrow i will take a pic.
Dylan calculated earlier today that if we listen to the dave alvin album 48 times we will be home on the 48th hearing. Great album but not sure if i can handle 48 turns in 3 days. good thing the minivan is equiped with over 300 CDs

Bristol Tennessee 3:30pm EST
Bristol Tennessee border
Tennessee, Tennessee, there ain't no place I'd rather be,
Baby won't you carry me back to Tennessee.
Drink all day and rock all night,
The law come to get you if you don't walk right
Got a letter this morning, baby all it read,
You better head back to Tennessee Jed
ok perhaps at this point i would rather be in Pacifica ;-)
chambersburgh 9:30am
The longest part so far was the good old jersey trnpk with a tractor trialer accident which was a reminder that we need to take it easy crossing these states.
Sun just came out, dogs after an OK morning prior to drugging are doing alright and sleeping side by side like they actually like each other. Townes has no clue what the hell is going on (expected) and Ophelia had a rough morning (she loves the car but knows something's up and was shaking in her boots)
All in all, Looking good.....

Pacifica, city, San Mateo County, western California ;-), on the Pacific Ocean, a residential suburb of San Francisco; incorporated 1957. It is a scenic community, with extensive ocean beaches. Of note are the point from which the Spanish explorer Gaspar de Portolá discovered San Francisco Bay and the Sanchez Adobe (1846, now a museum), one of the first homes built here. The city was created in 1957 by the merger of several communities
